Kids in the Kitchen

The Kids in the Kitchen initiative began in 2006 with the goal of engaging kids in the preparation of healthy meals as a means to educate them and their parents regarding nutrition and healthy choices.  Our League participated in this program from 2006-2009 and have since brought it back to our area in June 2013.  We look forward to continuing this program in our community and with our local children again this League year. Over 200 other Leagues also participate in this program across the world.

This each Spring we host our Kids in the Kitchen event at Noble Street Festival in Anniston, AL. The event is a huge success as we were able to serve over 500 children with our programs in 2013.  Each year the event grows as does our excitement.  The day was filled with fun events that allowed the kids to plant and take home their own tomato plant, learn fun Zumba and Insanity exercises and make healthy snacks to enjoy. Each child also received a recipe booklet to take home filled with easy and healthy snack ideas!
