Meet Our Board of Directors
Michelle Deese Bain, President; Public Relations Chair
A volunteer at heart, Michelle has most recently served our community with the National Parks Service through her work with The Freedom Riders National Monument. She has also volunteered with Relay for Life (Committee Member & Survivor Chair), 2nd Chance (Board of Directors), Girl Scouts (Troop Leader), CAST Theatre (Board of Directors, Directorial Team, & Performer) where she was awarded the prestigious Edyl Ayers Award and the Presidents Award, ARC of Calhoun & Cleburne Counties (puppeteer), Actors' Community Playhouse, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, YMCA of Calhoun County, Calhoun County Master Gardeners, Cheaha Master Gardeners, and coaching multiple cheerleading programs throughout the years. Michelle was a member of the 2020 Leadership Cleburne County class and a 2022 member of the Leadership Calhoun County class. Mrs. Bain joined the League in 2017 and served as VP of Community Impact during the 2018 year, VP of Public Relations from 2020-2022, and President-Elect during the 2022-2023 year. Michelle was awarded the Presidents Award for the 21-22 and 22-23 League years. A former all-star cheerleading coach at Cheaha Cheer & Tumble, Michelle is employed with Auburn University as the Administrative Associate at Cleburne County Extension Office. Michelle brings over 18 years experience in Marketing and Social Media design to our board. A member of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, she enjoys spending time with her husband and four year old son, and being the neighborhood cat lady.
Katrina Heath, Treasurer
Katrina is blessed to have a deep love for family & GOD. She has been married to my husband (Jason) since 1994 and they have two handsome & intelligent sons (Jalen & Brandon). Mrs. Heath graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work, and has worked as a Licensed Social Worker for well over twenty-five years. Katrina's passion in volunteering has allowed her the opportunity to become a member of Junior League of Anniston/ Calhoun since 2019, where she is currently serving as the Treasurer for the 2023-2024 service year. Mrs. Heath held the position as Treasurer-Elect for the previous service year. Katrina says that she is thankful to be affiliated with a wonderful organization whose mission is to improve people’s lives & make communities better!

Rachel Kline,VP Fundraising
Rachel Kline was born and raised in Calhoun County and proudly still calls it her home today. Fulfilling a lifelong calling to work with children, she graduated from Samford University in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education. Having taught a toddlers class at The Children's Place at First United Methodist right out of college and as a teacher's aide at Sacred Heart Catholic School for the past 7 years, (which is also her alma mater!), and is now a preschool teacher at Church of the Covenant's Covenant Kids preschool. She has been active with the Sacred Heart Catholic Church middle and high school youth groups since 2009, and with their VBS program since high school. She is also excited to be a volunteer with the church's new Lamplighter Krewe kids' program. In her free time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, especially her many nieces and nephews. She has been a part of the Junior League since 2013/2014 and has spent most of that time on the fundraising committee but has enjoyed all aspects of the League and is excited to be joining the Board for the first time as Fundraising Chair.
Dorthea Lawson, Vice President of Marketing
Dorthea hails from historic Selma, Alabama and graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science, with a concentration in Child development. She is currently employed with TCR ChildCare Corporation's Parent as Teachers program as a Parent Educator. Dorthea has a passion for serving others and giving back to the community in any way, shape or form. A music lover of all generes, she has played the trumpet since 6th grade.
Tiffany Moore, VP Membership
Tiffany Moore is a native of Guntersville, Alabama, and a graduate of Jacksonville State University with a degree in Family & Consumer Sciences- Dietetics. While at JSU, she was a 3-year member of the Marching Ballerinas, served as President and Vice-President of the Student Dietetics Association, and was a member of the Family and Consumer Science Association. She earned her master’s degree from the University of West Alabama and recently completed her Educational Specialist Degree in Adult Education at Auburn University. Auburn University has employed her with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System for 18 years, serving as County Extension Coordinator for ten years. Additionally, Tiffany serves as director of Leadership Randolph County and Youth Leadership Randolph, Randolph County Family & Consumer Science Advisory Board member, and Jacksonville State University Family & Consumer Science Advisory Board. Tiffany is also active with the Marching Ballerina Alumni Chapter. She has 2 fur children, Sassy and Velvet, and enjoys traveling, cooking, DIY crafts, and spending time with family and friends.
d the opportunity to study under Dr. Richard Armstrong during undergrad and Dr. Nathan Wight during graduate school. Ellison has performed an extensive list of Arias, Recitatives, Folksongs, Art Songs, Musical Theater, and much more. She has also performed seven lead operatic roles under the direction of Dr. Nathan Wight during her time at Jacksonville State University. While at Jacksonville State University, Ms. Ellison served as the Soprano Section leader for Chamber Singers, A Capella Choir, Encore! Show choir, and Civic Chorale as an undergrad and during graduate school. Ellison served as a Graduate Assistant to the Encore! Show Choir!, and also served as the Choreographer for the JSU Encore! Show Choir for 7 years. Ellison is the owner of The Music Box, A New School of Music on Noble Street in Downtown Anniston. Jean Ellison taught as an Adjunct Music Professor and Director of the JSU Encore! Show choir at Jacksonville State University previously. Ellison also currently serves as the Social Media Chair for Rotary of Calhoun County.

Lauren Freeman, Secretary
Lauren Ledbetter grew up in Calhoun County and graduated from Jacksonville State University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She graduated from the Birmingham School of Law in 2012 and has been practicing law since then in Calhoun County and surrounding counties. Prior to moving back to Calhoun County, she worked in different law firms in Jefferson, Etowah, and Calhoun Counties. In 2014, she opened her own firm, The Law Office of Lauren Ledbetter Freeman, LLC, where she primarily focuses on family, juvenile, and criminal law. Prior to joining the Junior League of Anniston-Calhoun, Lauren became a member of the Board of Directors for Second Chance, Inc (2016-2020), and the Board of Directors for Compass- New Directions Piedmont (2019-2022), and presently as Advisory Legal Counsel. In 2017, she joined Junior League and immediately began participating in all aspects of the Community Impact Committee. For the 2018-2019 league year, she served as a co-chair for the Girls Graduate (G2) program and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award. Because of her work in the juvenile courts, the Girls Graduate (G2) program was important to her as its primary focus was to help all at-risk girls graduate from high school. Lauren is currently a member of the Advisory Board for SIFE at JSU College of Business and a member of Northside Baptist Church. She has a daughter, Chloe, and in her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her dogs Olive and Ozzie.
